Katsura Funakoshi © BE

Katsura Funakoshi wurde 1951 in Morioka (Japan) als Sohn des Bildhauers Yasutake Funakoshi geboren und erlernte von diesem die Bildhauerei. Von 1971 bis 1975 studierte er an der University of Art and Design, anschließend von 1975 bis 1977 an der National University of Fine Arts and Music in Tokio. Nach Aufenthalten in Europa lebt und arbeitet er in Tokio.

1971 – 1975 Studied Sculpture at the Tokyo Zokei University, Art and Design
1984 Awarded Excellence Prize 'Oyama-City with Sculpture'
1991 Awarded Takashimaya Charitable Trust for Art and Culture Prize
1995 Awarded the 26th Nakahara Teijiro Prize for Excellence
1997 Awarded the 18th Hirakushi Denchu Prize
