Life is finite. Yet impermanence also means regeneration. Sharp-eyed and with a lot of irony, works by the Italian artist duo Bertozzi & Casoni even point to a time after.
Their ceramic sculptures impressively combine traditional craftsmanship with current themes that are critical of society. These are dazzling photographic flashes, extracted from present-day magma and staged as vanitas still lifes or memento mori. Their intentions are anything but extenuating. They raise questions and posit unsolvable riddles, not only about our present age, but also human condition.
