Not Heribert C. Ottersbach's »new works« inspired this latest publication, but rather his thoughts. These are the main focus of a conversation which Kirsten Nordahl conducted in writing with the artist around the turn of the year 2021/22. She is compiling the catalogue raisonné of his work.

Their written exchange is about painting, drawing and writing »without a banister«. It is about pictures, image disruptions and disappearing subjects, about the artist's œuvre. In addition, Ottersbach formulates thoughts on the drastically changing conditions and opportunities of our time. He lets us partake in a dialogue with his very own doubt. He ponders upon one's own confoundedness and its articulation.
