Nolde, Klee & Blauer Reiter. The Braglia Collection
The Swiss Braglia collection is a jewel of German Expressionism. With full-page illustrations and original views of images from important experts on Expressionism, the high-quality publication is a photo book, charming reader, and a collection catalog in one.
An exhibition on German Expressionism in Venice laid the foundation for the outstanding collection of Gabriele and Anna Braglia, which was opened to the public in Lugano in September 2014. Fascinated by the powerful colors and the great expressiveness of the pictures, the Swiss couple compiled exquisite paintings, watercolors, and drawings, in particular by Paul Klee, Emil Nolde and the artists of Der Blaue Reiter. There are also works by Lyonel Feininger and Max Pechstein. The approximately fifty works, which represent pivotal positions of Expressionism, are now being presented for the first time in their entirety.
»An art book about the highly exciting collection of Gabriele and Anna Braglia, a jewel of German Expressionism... Paul Klee, Emil Nolde, and the artists of Der Blaue Reiter, as well as Max Pechstein and Lyonel Feininger: each of the 50 or so works of the Swiss collection that represent pivotal positions of Expressionism is represented and knowledgeably described in the book.« (Highlights, International Art Fair Munich, in cooperation with AD Architectural Digest)
