The 200th anniversary year of the Kunstverein begins with an extraordinary exhibition by the artist Stefan à Wengen. The Swiss painter, who currently lives in Düsseldorf, is showing three special groups of works in Coburg: Animal Portraits, Bearded Men and Skulls. His atmospherically charged paintings are inspired by motifs from art history and the world of film. They also seek references to other cultures, from which the artist combines deeply symbolic pictorial elements.
