Competing collectors, an ambitious curator and an artist who embarks on a life-changing quest, plus the unwritten laws of the art market, envy and passion, an indigenous people, cultic festivals and a diary - artist Stefan á Wengen has woven all this into a novel in which the search is on for a lost artist and art has a lasting impact on the lives and fates of two people:
The painter Anton Stahl learns that the sculptor Anselm Stummer has recently been declared missing. However, he does not believe in the death of his colleague, who is now to be stylized into a myth because of this fate. After intensive research, Stahl then sets off for Papua in the tropical jungle, where he believes he will find the missing sculptor among the Asmat, former cannibals and headhunters.
Stefan à Wengen reads excerpts from his novel and talks about it with Dr. Andrea Knop, Beck & Eggeling.
The novel is also available with an edition by the artist.
