Aljoscha, an artist born in Ukraine and living in Düsseldorf, presents a large extensive installation at Johanneskirche, Stadtkirche Düsseldorf. Sublime, weightless, even floating, luminous, light and untouchable, utopian, omnipotent, even overwhelming, high above, this is how Aljoscha's installation appears. Based on acrylic paint, silicone, and acrylic glass, Aljoscha creates futuristic organisms that transcend time and space.

The installation at Johanneskirche is part of a series of exhibitions: at Whitsun 2022, the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland (EKiR) will present the art project „RUACH – Atem.Wind.Geist.“

Five internationally renowned artists will be given a creative and developmental space in selected churches. An experiment with great potential and at the same time with an open outcome. This approach already reflects a basic experience with the work of the biblical spiritual power RUACH: RUACH creates space, sets things in motion, leads from narrowness into expanse and thus makes things come alive. Faith and art share the experience of inspiring spiritual power as a starting point.

Artist Aljoscha meets the challenge of this experiment in the Johanneskirche in Düsseldorf.

The other in situ installations by the artists in the RUACH exhibition series also correspondent with the architecture of the Protestant churches, as well as with the spatial conditions and moods there. The entire project can be found at kunst.ekir.de.
