1920

Herbert Beck on 29 January Born in Leipzig, the son of Hermann Beck (jeweler) and Hildegard Eifler

1936 - 1939  

Apprenticeship as a goldsmith, took drawing lessons with Professor Max float at the art school for graphic design and

1940 - 1945  

Military service in Russia (Band); first free drawings and watercolors, he writes poems

1948

flees from Leipzig and can be down at Tegernsee in southern Germany in a house with studio and makes the painting to his day job, spends regular periods from now on in Italy

1949

Werthschitzky married Gisela, with whom he has two daughters and a son

1952

first solo exhibition at the gallery known Commeter in Hamburg, which represents such important artists as Emil Nolde and also a legacy of Edvard Munch. In this gallery he meets Emil Nolde, whose watercolor technique fascinates him, through his artistic influence Beck is downright obsessed with watercolors and developed his own distinctive style

1953 - 1960  

Beck works on topics such as self with mushroom, Auschwitz and Katyn The burning village

1958 - 1965  

meets regularly with a number of collectors in the House of meta Gadesmann, Rottach-Egern, where he makes the acquaintance of the art dealer and collector, Hanna Bekker vom Rath. She supported his career as a painter and takes many of his works in its collection of German Expressionists on important

1959

Beck is working on a series of watercolors, which he calls expressive landscapes

1966 - 1984  

Beck's oil paintings are different from his watercolors and creates two separate work complexes. His watercolors are much more serious, more expressive and spontaneous brushwork and composition in

1974

Studio in Laigueglia, Italy, where he spends several months a year. The southern landscape influenced his subjects and compositions Beck painted with pine or cypress trees and the sea

1979

Beck creates his first miniatures, small-scale works, caused by a similar method of chance like the Surrealists

1984

Beck is by many years of inhaling Terpentindünsten while working on his oil paintings seriously ill. He can not paint an entire year

1985

after his recovery he gives up oil painting and focused on painting with watercolors

1988 - 1989  

Ingrid and Leonard Hutton visit his studio at Tegernsee and organize a solo exhibition at the famous Hutton Galleries New York (catalog)

Beck is working on a group of watercolors, which he calls own worlds (worlds of their own fictional landscapes)

1996

the Kunstmuseum Ahlen honored with a retrospective of Beck (catalog)

1997

Beck is working on a group of watercolors, which he calls meditative landscapes (landscapes with a wide horizon)

2000

Beck is working on a group of watercolors, which he calls the world faces (faces of the world) and to date created over one hundred such heads and faces that reflect the diversity and individuality of human life
